Heidi here, I live in Dayton, Ohio with my husband Josh, and two very, very old dogs and one younger pup that we rescued from Tennessee. Drift became a dream of mine back in 2012, but let's go back even farther.
I am originally from Holmes County, OH where I was born and raised. I moved around a little bit after I graduated High School searching for something I was passionate about. After a four year journey of feeling directionless, I decided I better just pick something before I get too old! Haha (Seriously though)
In 2007 I moved down to Dayton, Ohio to go to Photography School where I got my associates degree in portrait photography. (Before the boom of self-taught digital photography) I love anything artistic so the fact that I had some direction with my creativity was satisfying. It didn't take long before I realized family portraits and weddings were not what I wanted to do as a career. I was working at a small family owned restaurant in Centerville while shooting weddings and portraits on the side.
I have always loved the art of photography. I knew I wanted the freedom of entrepreneurship but was unsure of how to go about starting a business that wasn't necessarily shooting weddings and family portraits?
In 2012 I started dreaming of owning my own business. I wanted to own a little shop and have the creative freedom to make it what I wanted. I wanted to shoot fashion photography, but decided to sell the clothes instead of selling the photos. But with very steep student loans from school, I decided to work on getting debt free before starting a new endeavor. Along the way I met my wonderful husband and got married in the summer of 2015. Together we paid off all of our student loans and decided to pursue this dream of mine. So here we are. I launched my online business in November of 2017 and have a lot more to learn! We don't have a storefront yet, but that is our hope.
Some things take time. Actually, in my life, all good things have taken time. The dream started in 2012 and the Lord decided to take me on the long route I suppose. I'm not complaining though, He knows me too well and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is just the beginning. Thanks for visiting our site and supporting this dream of mine. It's a long road ahead, but oh what a sweet one it is. With every purchase from our store, 15% of our profit goes toward helping orphans in Malawi, Africa build and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
